Stouffville, ON – (Sunday, Aug 6, 2006) – The Cascar Super Series teams took
to the streets of Trois Rivieres, Quebec Sunday afternoon in front of an
outstanding crowd.
Canadian Tire driver, Peter Gibbons qualified 10th for the event and advanced to
9th at the conclusion of the race, after an early race incident.
In the first turn, of the first lap the caution flew for a crash ahead of Gibbons,
which ended DJ Kennington’s day and shuffled Gibbons back to the 16th position.
Once the field went back to green racing, Gibbons worked his way back up to his
original position, however as the race remained caution free, Gibbons found
himself fighting to make up lost ground on the track. He was able to move up 7
positions and bring the Canadian Tire Chevy home in 9th position.
“We should have been in the top five for sure, but once you are that far back in
the field on a circuit like this one it is difficult to make it up,” said Gibbons. “As
much as I like road course racing, I am looking forward to getting to Mosport next
week and racing on the oval track.”
The Cascar Super Series races Saturday, August 12 in Bowmanville at the
Mosport Speedway.
RACE SUMMARY: Don Thompson Jr. was the winner, followed by # 84 JR
Fitzpatrick and third was Mopar driver Ron Beauchamp Jr.
