GIBBONS DAY ENDS EARLY

MONTREAL CASCAR 100 hard on engines

Stouffville, ON - (Monday, August 28, 2006) -Peter Gibbons first visit to the 4.359 km

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve road course not only had twists and turns, but also had some

ups and downs.

Gibbons qualified his Canadian Tire/Monroe Brakes car in 5th position, and ran in the

top five for the majority of the race, until, with 6 laps remaining a rod broke in the engine,

ending any hopes of a podium finish.

The Chevy driver was in 4th place when he was forced out of the the event. "We

had a good car today, I was getting set to make a pass on the third place car

when the engine broke." commented Gibbons.

The Gibbons Motorsports team was scored in 22nd place, and will head to Cayuga

Speedway for the Labor Day weekend. Gibbons has had great success at the Cayuga

Speedway and looks forward to a good run this Sept 2/3 weekend.

Race Summary: Kerry Micks, from Mt. Albert won his second race of 2006, followed by Robin

Buck and Scott Steckley.

In 2006 Canadian Tire celebrates their 10 year partnership with two-time National Champion

Peter Gibbons, and his Chevrolet, Monte Carlo, who equipped with more than 350 automotive

parts and products, from Canadian Tire have been setting records at racetracks across the country.
