GIBBONS FINISHES 8TH AT KAWARTHA SPEEDWAY AND IN POINTS STANDINGS

Stouffville, ON - (Monday, September 18, 2006)- The final CASCAR Super Series race

of the 2006 season is in the books. Gibbons qualified fifth for the Dodge Charger 250 and

came home in eighth after a late race incident.

Gibbons who started from the inside of row three at the drop of the green, chose to qualify

with a race set up to increase his chances of having a great car throughout the day.

In the first 100 laps he slid back as far as 7th but moved back up to the fifth spot by lap 89.

When the caution came out for the second time the Canadian Tire/Monroe Brakes driver pitted

and came back onto the race track in 9th. Gibbons passed two more cars before once again

the caution flag flew and the leaders pitted.

Crew Chief Dave Hernen made the call to change all four tires, but CASCAR rules only allow

2 tires per stop, so Gibbons made two trips down pit road to the attention of his crew.

Once the racing resumed Gibbons was posted 8th on the board and was in good position with

75 laps remaining. The Chevy driver was sitting in 6th with less than 40 to go, and looked

set for another top five finish. As the laps wound down the caution came out and the field was set for

a five lap shoot out, things were about to get exciting.

The green flag came out and Gibbons moved up to 5th, before another caution occurred. Now it was

down to a green, white, checkered finish. Gibbons never one to back down, went hard into turn one

and was tapped from behind sending him into the car ahead and spinning the two of them around.

Gibbons got the car going again but lost 3 positions and crossed the finish line in 8th.

"We had a good car that I know could have won with, but we have been plagued with the same problems

ever since building this car. We need to do alot of homework over the winter to fix it. Next year we want to

come back and be a force to be reckoned with in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series." Gibbons

commented at the conclusion of the event.

Race Summary: Mark Dilley won the Dodge event, followed by Chevy driver Don Thompson Jr., and

D.J. Kennington in third. J.R. Fitzpatrick went on to win his first CASCAR Super Series Championship.
