Edmonton, AB-(July 21, 2007) – The fifth stop for Peter Gibbons on the
NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Presented by Sirius Radio proved to be a good one
for the Monroe Brakes/Mastercraft driver.
Gibbons qualified 13th for the 100 km event and gradually made his way up
through the field on the 1.973 mile, 14 turn course. As the 32 lap race
progressed Gibbons’ Chevy seemed to be handling better, but the number of
caution laps (12) prevented him from advancing any further than 7th.
“Our car was getting better as the race went on, I really didn’t like seeing those
full course cautions.” Remarked Gibbons. “The Monroe Brakes/Mastercraft
Chevy was decent today; we have some work to do on before we take it
Montreal in a couple of weeks, all in all a good day for the team.”
Race Summary: Race winner J.R. Fitzpatrick took the lead on the final lap, over
second place Andrew Ranger and third position went to Robin Buck. Gibbons
slipped back into 3rd in the championship points standings, just 36 points out of
the lead.
Next stop for the Gibbons Motorsports Team will be August 4, on the Circuit
Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
