Stouffville, ON-(September 2, 2007) – Peter Gibbons qualified 4th and

finished seventh Saturday night at Cayuga Speedway Park, but it was the last lap

that had everyone excited.

Only eight laps into the event Gibbons managed to avoid getting caught up in a

huge accident which involved the leaders just ahead of him.  After a red flag,

he restarted in 3rd.

The Monroe Brakes/Mastercraft driver was running in 2nd position when he made

his pitstop on lap 134.  His pit crew was on their game and had him back out

first of the cars that pitted.

The Chevy driver restarted the race in 4th and his fresher tires quickly moved him

into the lead just four laps later.  Gibbons lead position was challenged by #25

Jimmy Lapcevich, the two Chevrolets had a fierce battle exchanging the lead 5

times on the last 37 laps.

On the final lap Lapcevich led Gibbons in turn four, Gibbons went low to reclaim

the position and the two locked bumpers.  Gibbons crossed the finish line 7th.

“That last turn I saw a hole down low and I went for it, it would have worked out

if the lap car hadn’t gotten involved” remarked Gibbons.  “Jimmy and I battled

hard lap after lap I wasn’t giving up until the checkered flag flew.  The car was

loose throughout the race, but it was fast at the end when it counted.”

“My crew had a great pitstop tonight, getting Peter out ahead of all the other

cars that pitted”.  Said Dave Hernen, Crew Chief for Gibbons.  “It was an exciting

finish, and it was good to see our car in contention for the win.  We still have

three more shots at a victory this season”

Race Summary:

The victory went to first time NCATS winner # 77 Derek Lynch, second place to

# 27 Andrew Ranger and third was # 17 DJ Kennington.  Ranger continues to

lead the Championship points, followed by DJ Kennington and Kerry Micks (tied

for second) and Gibbons in fourth.

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series returns to Barrie Speedway, September 8th for

the 9th event of the 2007 season.
